Legal Assistant – Troy, Michigan Office

Bush Seyferth PLLC is a boutique litigation firm with a national practice seeking to fill the role of Legal Administrative Assistant.  Responsibilities will include providing legal and executive administrative support to the firms’ attorneys, such as calendar and correspondence management, file management, preparation of court documents for filing, and making travel arrangements.

Specific duties include:

  • Maintain and coordinate calendars, handle scheduling appointments, and diary due dates

Discovery Attorney – Troy, Michigan Office

Bush Seyferth PLLC is a boutique litigation firm with a national practice seeking an attorney to work as part of our growing product-liability discovery team.  The position requires a person who is hard-working, self-starting, detail-oriented, responsible, and capable of working with our discovery attorneys and paralegals in responding to discovery for a large caseload with voluminous document productions.  This candidate will be someone who takes pride in always producing top-quality work, but also likes to have fun with coworkers in a collegial environment.  The right candidate must be able to take lead on projects and complete tasks with little supervision, and possess excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.  Experience with iPro, Relativity, or another document-review system is a plus.  Prior experience with engineering or other technical documents is preferred.  One to three years in a discovery-related position is preferred, though equivalent experience will be considered.  Excellent communication skills are also required, due to extensive communications with client representatives and outside counsel.  After initial on-boarding, the successful candidate may be able to work remotely on occasion.

Job Duties Include:

  • Responding to discovery requests (which requires gathering, organizing, and indexing large volumes of paper and electronic materials).
  • Responding to deposition notices (which includes proper objections, scope analysis and definition).
  • Responding to motions.
  • Assisting with preparation of company witnesses for depositions.
  • Frequent communication with witnesses and clients.
  • Frequent analysis of technical issues.
  • Analyzing engineering documents and various other file materials, and preparing these materials for electronic production.

Bookkeeper– Troy, Michigan Office

Our company has an outstanding opportunity in our firm-wide accounting department for a Bookkeeper. The Bookkeeper performs accounting-related functions, including billing, invoice submission, and other duties related to the submission of monthly billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, budgetary reporting, and maintenance of client/matter billing data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Invoicing: Processes associated with creating and submitting a bill for services and related costs to client/customers. Includes producing correspondence and related reports, metrics or similar analysis and adherence to establishing guidelines. Also includes the transmission and tracking of billing information in various forms (paper, electronics, etc.)
  • Accounts Receivable: Processes associated with tracking and collecting funds owed from sale of services.
  • Accounts Payable: Processes associated with the processing of expense reimbursements, vendor payments, and other forms of money owed to suppliers for goods or services rendered.
  • General Accounting: Processes associated with account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and related activities.
  • Communication: Processes associated with communication in various forms used to inform or persuade. Includes the process of providing guidance, general information, proactive education, and training on policies and procedures.

Work Hours

Discovery Drafter / Discovery Paralegal Specializing in Technical Writing

The position requires a person who is detail-oriented, self-motivating, and capable of managing a large volume of complex cases with voluminous document productions. Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor are also required, due to extensive communications with client representatives and outside counsel.

Job duties include:

  • Analyze and interpret technical information received from clients and translate for reports and discovery responses.
  • Drafting and preparation of technical/legal documents and letters.
  • Responding to discovery requests (including organizing/indexing large amounts of data – both hard copy materials and electronic).
  • Analyzing engineering documents and various other file materials, and preparing these materials for electronic production.
  • Performing technical and legal research.
  • Assisting attorneys with responding to motions.
  • Revise product manuals.

Required Qualifications:

1. Excellent writing/editing skills.

Office Services Clerk -Troy, Michigan Office

Bush Seyferth PLLC is a boutique litigation firm with a national practice seeking an Office Services Clerk. The ideal candidate will work closely with attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants and other office personnel to assist with the operation of the firm. This candidate will be someone who provides general assistance whenever and wherever needed throughout the office.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Process all copy and scanning projects as well as handling assembly of trial-related materials as requested by firm personnel.
  • Assist in the processing of all incoming and outgoing firm mail.
  • Assist with the ordering, receiving and putting away of office supplies—taking note of when orders need to be placed.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly working environment, organizing as needed.
  • Complete trips to stores, courts, or other legal offices as requested.
  • Stay up-to-date with all meetings, conferences, etc. on firm calendar and set up accordingly as well as provide front desk coverage as needed.
  • Provide hospitality services for all firm meetings, following requests for food and supplies. Responsible for set-up and clean-up afterwards.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to prioritize, show strong attention to detail, and work efficiently in a fast-paced work environment where strict deadlines are common.
  • Adapt to all situations and be able to step in and work varied hours as needed.
