Grant A. Newman focuses his practice on appellate, class action, and complex briefing. Grant has experience with civil and criminal judicial opinions and optimizing federal case management processes.
- Defending automaker in federal class litigation asserting consumer protection claims.
- Defending automaker in federal appeal concerning a multi-million dollar negligence lawsuit.
- Provided strategic consulting on prosecution of nationwide casework for an international NGO’s South Asia office.
Prior to joining Bush Seyferth & Paige PLLC, Grant clerked at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan under the Honorable Stephen J. Murphy, III. He also served as a legal fellow for International Justice Mission in its Delhi, India field office, worked as a summer associate at Plunkett Cooney, P.C., and interned at the Michigan Court of Appeals, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, and U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan.
In 2014, Grant received his J.D, cum laude, from the Wayne State University Law School, where he was a Dean’s Scholar, Associate Editor of the Wayne Law Review, Senior Member of Moot Court, Civil Procedure Teaching Assistant, and Criminal Law Research Assistant. Grant also attended Central Michigan University where he received his M.S.A. in Public Administration and B.B.A. in Management Information Systems magna cum laude.
